The Halo 3-on-3 Tournament held on Oct. 15 is an exciting 1-day event of half-court games for adults. Players form their own teams and compete in an organized and fun environment!

FUN FOR EVERYONEimg_0024

3-on-3 tournaments are an ideal way for young players to build their skills!  They touch the ball a lot more than in a full court game and teamwork is a necessity on every play. Older players get to be part of a team and experience the fun of competition.  And everyone, young or old, experiences the thrill of the game and a camaraderie that lasts beyond the weekend!

Plan to hang out for several hours - or even all day.  Players of all ages will be playing at the same time, with up to 12 games going on at once.   It’s a family-friendly event, complete with access to the playground and a well-stocked concession stand.

HOW TO FORM A TEAM

Teams consist of 4 players in a given age group.   Select divisions are co-ed.   Teams in the 19 yrs and older divisions don’t have a coach, but younger teams should have one.

Teams are placed into divisions by age and in some cases, the team’s flight selection.  Roster changes may be made up until one hour before your team’s first scheduled game ($5 fee), given that the new player qualifies with the original requests.

AGE DIVISIONS (age as of Jan.1, 2011)

  • BOYS: 8-9 yrs, 10-11 yrs, 12-13 yrs, 14-15 yrs, 16-18 yrs, 19 yrs and up (co-eds allowed), 35 yrs and up (co-eds allowed)
  • GIRLS: 8-9 yrs, 10-11 yrs, 12-13 yrs, 14-15 yrs, 16-18 yrs, 19 yrs and up (co-eds allowed), 35 yrs and up (co-eds allowed)

There are no INDIVIDUAL registrations - only TEAMS.   Simply print off and mail in the registration form before the deadline.

Players 14 yrs and older must have a valid picture ID (birth certificate, drivers license or photo ID) available to present during the tournament.   This is not required for check-in, but may be needed if there is an inquiry.

GAMES: Oct. 15

Teams are guaranteed to play 3 games.  The game schedule will be posted online at least two days before the event.  Occasionally, the schedule will need to be revised; Halo Headquarters will always determine the official game times and adjustments.

You can wear your own team shirts or jerseys to play in - or you can just wear the tournament tee shirt.  Teams can have their own sponsors and put the sponsor name on their game shirt.

Divisions with 3-5 teams will compete in pool play, followed by a seeded single elimination tournament.  Divisions with 6 or more teams will compete in a double elimination tournament; teams who lose their first 2 games will enter into single elimination consolation play.   If a division has only 1 or 2 teams registered, the director may modify or combine divisions, or the division may be cancelled and teams will be refunded in full.

THE HALO WAY
In some 3-on-3 tournaments, players call their own fouls and the play can get pretty rough.   We want to keep the competition as fair and controlled as possible, so we’ll have referees at every court. Some referees are adults with Halo certification; in select divisions, we’ll have referees with high school-certification.  All referees are volunteers, so make sure to thank them!

Every player and fan who enters the gym agrees to abide by the Halo Commitment:  I commit to joining with the Halo Hoops staff to ENCOURAGE and IMPROVE young players. I accept responsibility for influencing those around me to do the same. I understand that the Halo Hoops staff will excuse from the gym anyone not abiding by this commitment.

Recruitable athletes and collegiate players: Please check with your athletic director before registering in order to ensure compliance with state and NCAA rules.
