The mission of Halo Hoops Ministries, Inc. is to encourage and improve youth through basketball. We’re passionate about giving kids a positive experience where they grow as a player and as a person, and have a fun time! We do that by providing high quality instruction, surrounding them with positive role models and encouraging them to play on team with their friends. 
At Halo Hoops, our spiritual emphasis is the Christian message. We present this message to young people and their families in a simple and clear manner. Our partnerships with like-minded people, churches and community organizations help provide gym space, staff and service support for the many programs held throughout the year.
Halo Hoops was founded in 2000 by Dave & Leslie Davies. The first camp was launched in Lawrenceville, GA and got the ball rolling with 120 campers. A year later, the camp expanded to Wilmington, NC and over the next few years, the Halo summer camp circuit included Tennessee, Oregon, Washington and Illinois. In 2004, the Davies family moved from a small town in Oregon to the beach community of Wilmington with plans to headquarter the organization and build a strong foundation of year-round basketball programs. Currently, the Halo Winter Leagues are the most popular program in the Wilmington community, along with various specialty clinics, camps and a growing Summer League. The summer camp circuit continues to develop in several states, with plans to expand in North Carolina and Illinois.
This year, we’re working on improving the resources we put in the hands of coaches and parents. When adults understand the basics of the game and value the relationships that form through sports, the experience is much better for young people.
