GENERAL
Current state high school basketball rules apply, with exceptions listed below
Modifications to equipment:
  • Ball size: 28.5
  • Court size:  middle school or high school regulation
  • Free Throw Line: 13′
Maximum 10 players per team
Age determined as of Oct. 15
Minimum 10 min. playing time per game per player
Home team provides person to keep official scorebook

TIME
Four 10-minute quarters
Running clock except timeouts & last 2 min. of game
If lead is greater than 15 pts at 2 min. mark, clock continues to run
Each team is allowed four 30 sec. timeouts per game

SCORING
No 3 pt. shot
Blowout Rule
  • If lead is 20 pts. or greater, coach of trailing team may choose to continue play or have defense of leading team stay inside 3 pt. line.
  • Original rules apply once lead is cut to 15 pts. or fewer.
Overtime format is sudden death (first team to score wins)

OFFENSE
4-second lane violation

DEFENSE
Requirements
  • First qtr:  2-3 zone
  • Second qtr:  man-to-man
  • Second half:  coach’s choice
Full court press allowed only during final 2 min. of game

BEHAVIOR
Disagreement with a rule infraction (not judgment call) must be presented
respectfully by coach in following order:
  • To referee between quarter or during timeout
  • To gym director between quarters
If issue not resolved, coach must e-mail league director within 3 days of occurrence.
Players may not dispute calls with officials or use offensive language
  • First offense:  warning to team
  • Second offense:  technical foul applied to team
Gym Director will excuse from gym anyone not abiding by Halo Commitment

PLAYOFFS
Single elimination tournament
Seedings determined according to regular season record
If 2 or more teams have identical records, seeding determined by:
  1. winner of head-to-head game
  2. margin of victory of head-to-head game
  3. best record against higher seeds
  4. margin of victory against higher seeds
  5. coin flip
